The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, said today that it proudly announced “the martyrdom of the great commander Yahya Sinwar "Abu Ibrahim," the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, who fell in battle advancing with honor, in one of the most sacred battles in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque, our people, and their legitimate rights.”

Al-Qassam said Sinwar’s martyrdom was a source of pride for the movement as it offers its leaders as martyrs before its soldiers.

“Our leader was martyred as a hero, engaged in combat with the invaders, who mistakenly believed Gaza could be easily conquered by their cowardly army,” thge statement said.

Sinwar was among the founding generation of Hamas and its military and security wings, spending more than 20 years in “Israeli” prisons before being released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal in 2011.

“He immediately resumed his path of resistance, dedicating his life to overseeing Hamas' military operations in three regions and playing a crucial role in unifying the fronts of resistance on the path to Jerusalem.”

“When the factions of the resistance, with Hamas at the forefront, chose to enter this decisive battle in the history of Palestinian jihad and the journey of our nation, they knew that the price of liberation would be steep, as all nations have paid dearly before achieving freedom from their occupiers,” Al-Qassam said.

“The resistance was prepared to make these sacrifices, standing at the forefront of the struggle alongside their people, offering both leaders and soldiers, refusing to submit to the enemy or remain silent in the face of its oppression and theft of our people's legitimate rights.”

“Our jihad will not cease until Palestine is liberated, the last Zionist is expelled, and all our legitimate rights are restored. The best proof is that our people have not broken or surrendered after a year of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" despite the heavy price paid and the brutal crimes of Zionist genocide.”

“This criminal enemy is deluded if it believes that assassinating resistance leaders like Sinwar, Haniyeh, Nasrallah, Arouri, and others can extinguish the flame of resistance or force it to retreat.”

“The resistance will continue and escalate until our people's legitimate goals are achieved. Martyrdom is the highest aspiration of our leaders, and their blood will be a guiding light toward liberation and a fire that will consume the aggressors.”

“Our leaders have left behind hundreds of thousands of fighters from our people and our nation, determined to confront the Zionist occupation until Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque are cleansed of its filth, and the occupiers are expelled from our land, by God's will” – the statement concluded.
