Jordan, Turkey reaffirm commitment to Palestinian independence
On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi.
During the meeting, Safadi conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II and presented a message emphasizing the importance of strengthening fraternal relations between Jordan and Turkey.
The message highlighted the need for continued coordination on regional issues, particularly in efforts to halt the ongoing aggression against Gaza, end the dangerous escalation in the region, and support the Palestinian people in their quest for freedom and an independent, sovereign state. Safadi reiterated that achieving these goals is essential for establishing just peace, security, and stability in the region.
Erdoğan reciprocated by sending his regards to King Abdullah II and expressed his interest in enhancing cooperation between the two nations across various fields to solidify their close ties. He reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and ensuring the fulfillment of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights.
The discussion also addressed the necessity of stopping aggression against Lebanon and curtailing the escalating Israeli Occupation's actions in the West Bank, along with safeguarding the historical and legal status of holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
During his official visit to Turkey, Safadi also held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and participated in a panel discussion titled "Global Diplomacy and Future of Palestine" conference.
