The Palestinian Red Crescent Society's (PRCS) Primary Care Department, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and UNRWA, initiated a second round of polio vaccinations in the Gaza Strip.

The vaccination drive will take place over three days, with the potential for an additional day if needed. Key clinics participating in this initiative include the Deir Al-Balah Clinic, Al-Bassa Clinic, Al-Sawarah Clinic, Al-Zawaideh Clinic, and Al-Nuseirat Clinic.

This vital campaign targets children under the age of 10 in the central governorate, aiming to shield them from infectious diseases amidst the region's ongoing health challenges.

In conjunction with the vaccinations, children will also receive vitamin A supplements to enhance their immune systems, addressing health concerns exacerbated by deteriorating sanitation conditions in the area.

This vaccination campaign comes on the heels of a significant health alert, following the recent paralysis of a ten-month-old infant due to the type 2 polio virus—marking the first reported case of its kind in the territory in 25 years.
