Lebanese authorities address fears of surveillance chips in humanitarian aid
In recent days, displaced Lebanese who received humanitarian aid became alarmed after discovering a small device inside coffee bags distributed to them. The unexpected find led some recipients to suspect the device might be a tracking chip or an electronic component used for surveillance, prompting them to raise their concerns with local authorities.
The General Directorate of the Lebanese State Security responded swiftly, issuing a statement to address the growing fears. According to the statement, an immediate technical investigation was conducted after receiving several complaints.
After a thorough examination, authorities confirmed that the device in question was not an electronic chip but rather a preservative designed to keep the coffee fresh and prevent spoilage. The Directorate reassured the public that the device posed no threat and was a standard component used to preserve food quality.
