Jordan condemns “Israel’s” targeting of displaced civilians in Gaza
Jordan strongly condemned “Israel's” targeting of a school sheltering displaced people in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp, which was set to be used as a polio vaccination site today, as well as the targeting of tents for displaced people in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza.
The attacks resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, which the Jordanian Foreign Ministry described as a heinous crime that adds to the war crimes “Israel” is committing against the Palestinian people.
The ministry further called this a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian principles, as well as a continuation of “Israel’s” systematic targeting of civilians and shelters for the displaced.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, reaffirmed Jordan's strong rejection and condemnation of these crimes, which he said represent a flagrant breach of international law, international humanitarian law, and the 1949 Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilians in Times of War.
He emphasized that “Israel” is blatantly ignoring international calls for an end to the war and the unprecedented humanitarian disaster it has caused.
Ambassador Qudah stressed the need to protect civilians and essential facilities serving the Palestinian people, including humanitarian sites and shelters, as required under international law.
He also called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities by taking a firm international stance to immediately stop Israel’s aggression on Gaza, ensure protection for the Palestinian people, and hold “Israel” accountable for its ongoing violations of international law.
