New “Israeli” attack on UN peacekeepers wounds Sri Lankan soldiers
A new “Israeli” attack targeted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), wounding two Sri Lankan soldiers stationed with the peacekeeping force.
The incident occurred when a tank shell struck near one of the UNIFIL towers in Naqoura, resulting in shrapnel injuries to the soldiers.
António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, called the attack “a violation of international humanitarian law”.
He warned "Israel" there must be no repeat of this "intolerable" incident.
"There was naturally a reaction from many sides in solidarity with the peacekeepers that were wounded and in telling Israel very clearly that this incident is intolerable and cannot be repeated," Guterres said after talks with Southeast Asian leaders at a summit in Laos.

Earlier on Friday, European Council President Charles Michel condemned the “Israeli” attack on UNIFIL, calling it "unacceptable" and stating that "an attack on an international peacekeeping mission is irresponsible and unacceptable,” urging “Israel” and all parties to fully respect international humanitarian law.
