Sinwar resumes contact with Hamas officials outside Gaza: Report

An “Israeli” official told Axios that they received information of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar contacting the group’s representatives in Qatar and recent days.

The report adds that Sinwar resumed contact with Qatar-based officials, conveying messages to them after a period of inactivity.

The “Israeli” official said it is not clear when Sinwar sent the messages, but affirmed that he had not “softened his positions” on Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal.

Last month, Hebrew media reported that the “Israeli” military officials believed that Sinwar was “out of touch” following initial assessments that he may have been hit with an “Israeli” strike.
