Jordan to dispatch field hospital for obstetrics, neonatal care to Gaza
Under Royal Directives, Jordan will dispatch today a field hospital specializing in obstetrics and neonatal care to Gaza.
The Jordanian Field Hospital for Obstetrics and Neonatal Care – Khan Younis, was established under Royal Directives and with the direct supervision of the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army, in collaboration with the
Pious Projects of America.
Here are the key details about the hospital:
- The hospital includes an operating room, four labor rooms for both easy and complicated deliveries, five resuscitation beds, 30 post-delivery beds, and 10 neonatal incubators. It is fully equipped with all necessary facilities, including sleeping quarters, food provisions, solar-powered units to support hospital operations during regular times and power outages.
- The new hospital will be staffed by 82 medical, nursing, technical, and administrative cadres from the Royal Medical Services (RMS).
- This initiative is another Jordanian medical effort to support the people of Gaza.
The Jordanian Royal Medical Services (RMS) have had a field hospital in Tel Al Hawa in Gaza since 2009. They have also dispatched another field hospital to Khan Younis after the war broke in 2023, and another one to Nablus.
“Restoring Hope” – a Jordanian initiative that aims to support amputees in Gaza by providing them with advanced prosthetic limbs that enable them to regain mobility quickly, was also launched after a Jordanian medical team reached Khan Younis earlier this month.
