Pentagon reiterates support for Tel Aviv
The US Department of Defense, also known as the Pentagon, has reiterated its stance against actions that could escalate tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Pentagon emphasized that "Israel" would decide whether to launch a ground operation in Lebanon but urged caution to avoid further escalation.
The Pentagon also expressed hope for a diplomatic resolution to prevent a full-scale war in the region, stating that there is still time and opportunity for diplomacy to succeed.
Biden's Warning
US President Joe Biden also issued a warning on Wednesday about the risk of a "full-scale war" in the Middle East. He acknowledged the potential for such an aggression but expressed optimism about reaching an agreement that could reshape the region.
"A full-scale war is possible, but I believe there’s still a chance for an agreement that could fundamentally change the entire region," Biden said.
He added that if a ceasefire is reached in Lebanon, it could allow the US to shift focus to the West Bank. "We also need to address Gaza, but I’m doing everything I can with my team to achieve this goal," Biden concluded.
