Man murders mother, sister over financial dispute in Balqa
The Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court formally charged a young man with two counts of premeditated murder under Article 328/1/3 of the Jordanian Penal Code.
The suspect was arrested following the brutal killing of his 40-year-old mother and 18-year-old sister in their home in Ain Al-Basha, Balqa Governorate.
Additionally, the suspect faces charges of attempted murder after critically wounding another sister.
The prosecutor ordered the suspect to be detained for 15 days (renewable) at a correctional and rehabilitation facility while investigations continue.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the crime occurred after the suspect demanded money from his family, who refused. This led him to retrieve an unlicensed firearm and open fire on his relatives.
The suspect then attempted to flee the country, heading towards the border before being apprehended by authorities.
The mother and sister succumbed to gunshot wounds, while the second sister was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
An autopsy confirmed the mother had been shot three times, with wounds to the head and chest, while the sister had been fatally shot in the head.
The victims' bodies have since been released to the family for burial.
