The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue their unrestrained aggression on Gaza for the 349th consecutive day, carrying out new massacres and targeting civilians. The attacks have also hit displaced persons' camps, schools, and mosques.

Meanwhile, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced the resumption of martyrdom operations against “Israeli” forces and settlers, in response to the ongoing assault on Gaza and across Palestine.

The resistance vowed to carry out more high-impact operations as long as the aggression on Gaza and the targeting of Palestinian civilians continues – in a video message posted on its official Telegram channel yesterday.

Yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution demanding "Israel" end its "illegal occupation of Palestinian territory" within a year.

This resolution follows an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice requested by the Assembly concerning the legality of "Israeli" policies and actions in Palestine.

The resolution passed with 124 votes in favor, 43 abstentions, and 14 against.

Palestine proposed the resolution during the 10th emergency special session on Palestine, with support from several countries including Jordan, Bahrain, Turkey, Algeria, Djibouti, Sudan, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Mauritania.

The resolution requires Israeli Occupation to:

  • Immediately withdraw all its military forces from the occupied Palestinian territories.
  • Cease all illegal activities, including halting new settlement construction, evacuating settlers, dismantling parts of the separation wall and apartheid wall.
  • Return land and other property seized since 1967.
  • Allow displaced Palestinians to return to their original homes and stop obstructing their right to self-determination, including the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the occupied territories.

It also calls for all nations to adhere to their international legal obligations and proposes an international conference during the 79th General Assembly session to implement UN resolutions on Palestine and work towards a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Additionally, the General Assembly urges a conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to discuss implementing the convention in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

The resolution requests the Secretary-General to report back within three months on the progress of implementing the decision.

The advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice, issued on July 19, concluded that Israel's occupation is illegal and must be terminated promptly, including stopping new settlements, evacuating settlers, compensating for damages, and ensuring that states and international organizations do not recognize the legitimacy of this illegal occupation.
