His Majesty tasked Bisher Al-Khasawneh and his government with continuing to manage the country’s affairs in a caretaker capacity until the new government is formed and assumes its duties.
King Abdullah addressed a letter to Khasawneh in response to the resignation submitted earlier that day. The full text of the letter is as follows:
“In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
“I extend to you and your fellow ministers my deepest appreciation for your dedicated service to our beloved Jordan.
“With your resignation now submitted, I thank you for your tireless efforts and commitment throughout your time in office, upholding the responsibility entrusted to you.
“Your government assumed leadership during the difficult years of the COVID-19 pandemic, which left a significant impact on our national economy.
“Our primary concern was always the health and safety of our citizens, ensuring that our healthcare sector, as always, remained robust and effective in delivering the best services to the people. I appreciate your government's efforts in continuing these national endeavors.

“Your government also managed to navigate the inflationary pressures caused by recent global economic challenges, shielding citizens from their toughest effects, while adhering to sound financial policies that maintained stability, providing a solid foundation for development.
“Despite these challenges, we did not waver in moving forward with our comprehensive political, economic, and administrative modernization efforts. Your government and the specialized committees played a key role in implementing these reforms, which are part of the nation’s project as it embarks on its second century. We are determined to continue with these initiatives for the benefit of Jordan and its people.
“Your government also upheld its national responsibility by adopting the legislative reforms proposed by the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System, under which the most recent parliamentary elections were held. Additionally, you worked on developing the executive program for the Economic Modernization Vision and began implementing the roadmap for public sector modernization.
“I appreciate the efforts of you and your ministerial team in making tangible progress on various vital projects. These include advancing public transportation by completing the “linkage between Amman and Zarqa, signing memorandums of understanding for the railway project, proceeding with the necessary steps to implement the National Water Carrier Project, and facilitating the rollout of 5G services in telecommunications.
“As I accept your resignation, I hereby task you and your government with continuing to manage the country’s affairs in a caretaker capacity until the new government is formed and assumes its duties.
“Once again, I offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you and your colleagues. You will always hold my trust, and I pray that Almighty God continues to guide and protect you.”
