Roya has learned from its sources that the government of Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh will hold a session on Sunday morning.

This meeting comes at the start of the week following the announcement of parliamentary election results. According to the constitution, the government is not obligated to submit its resignation.

Government sources informed Roya that no cabinet meeting took place on Saturday evening, contrary to reports by some local media outlets.

The question remains whether Prime Minister Khasawneh's government will submit its resignation to King Abdullah II following the parliamentary elections for the 20th House of Representatives.

Dr. Laith Nasraween, a constitutional law professor, explained to Roya that the King has three options: retaining the current government, replacing it, or reassigning it.

From a political perspective, Nasraween believes that due to the composition of the newly elected 20th Parliament, it is likely that a new government will be formed to present its policy statement to the new parliament. He noted concerns that the current government might struggle to secure confidence from the new parliamentary body if it were to present a second policy statement.

Nasraween emphasized that the new parliament, with its party-centric nature, might not approve of a government formed without its involvement in choosing the prime minister or cabinet members. Therefore, to ensure the new government gains parliamentary confidence, it is expected that the 20th Parliament will have a say in the formation of the new government and the selection of its prime minister.
