Election Commission announces parliamentary elections final results

Chairman of the Independent Election Commission Musa Al-Maaytah, announced the final results of the 2024 Jordanian parliamentary elections.

The Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission has decided to approve the preliminary results as final, which will be published in the Official Gazette.

Maaytah stated that 43.5 percent of voters were youth under the age of 35, while women accounted for 47.8 percent of the turnout.

He added that six candidates under the age of 35 won seats, with three from the general list and three from local lists. As for women, a total of 27 were elected, with 9 on the general list and 18 on local lists.

He explained that 104 party-affiliated candidates were elected, 41 from party lists and 63 from local lists.

The Islamic Action Front Party secured 17 seats in the 20th Parliament, while the National Charter Party won 3 seats, the National Islamic Party secured 3 seats, and the Will (Irada) Party also won 3 seats.

Earlier, Fida’a Al-Hmoud, Chairwoman of the General Electoral District Committee for the 20th Parliament elections, announced the preliminary results for party lists in the general district, which included 697 candidates competing for 41 seats.

During a press conference, Al-Hmoud stated that 10 out of 25 lists surpassed the threshold in the general district.

She added that the Islamic Action Front Party secured 17 seats in the upcoming Parliament.

The National Charter Party won 3 seats, in addition to 1 seat for the Circassians/Chechens.

The National Islamic Party won 3 seats.

The Will Party (Irada) also secured 3 seats.

The National Union Party earned 2 seats, in addition to 1 Christian seat.

The Progress Party (Taqaddom) won 2 seats, along with 1 Christian seat.

As for the parties of Blessed Land, Labor, Building and Labor Party, each secured 2 seats.
