Saudi authorities have raised the weather alert to red in Makkah, Asir, and Madinah on Thursday due to forecasts of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

The severe weather, expected to persist until 11:00 PM, affects several areas including Al-Birk and Al-Qahma in Asir, Al-Kamil, Makkah, Al-Jumum, and Ash-Shuaiba in the Makkah region, and Al-Mahd, Wadi Al-Far', and Al-Ayis in Madinah.

The Saudi National Center for Meteorology predicts heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, reduced visibility, thunderstorms, hail, and potential flooding in these regions. There is also a possibility of tornadoes forming in Asir.

In Jeddah, authorities are working for the third consecutive day to drain rainwater that has flooded streets, public squares, bridges, and homes following recent heavy downpours. The municipality is focused on restoring affected areas and clearing debris from drainage systems.

The National Center for Meteorology has also issued a warning for heavy rain in Jazan, predicting strong winds, low visibility, hail, flash floods, and thunderstorms in several areas.

On Wednesday, the Saudi Civil Defense warned of light to moderate rain in the provinces of Jeddah, Khulais, and Rabigh in the Makkah region, with the conditions expected to continue into Thursday.
