Telecommunications sector investment in Jordan reaches record high in 2023
Total investment in Jordan's telecommunications sector surged to JD 347 million in 2023, marking its highest level in nine years.
Data indicates that this increase in investment is primarily driven by spending on network equipment, the construction of telecommunication tower sites, and licensing for usage rights.
This reflects a significant expansion in infrastructure and an improvement in telecommunications services, particularly with the investment in 5G services.
Investment in the mobile phone sector reached approximately JD 280 million in 2023, up from JD 262 million in 2022, representing a 7 percent increase.
These investments included enhancements to buildings, the purchase of network equipment, and the construction of tower sites, which accounted for 46 percent of the total investment.
The remaining percentage was distributed across other improvements, licensing, usage rights, and computer hardware and software.
In the fixed-line telecommunications sector, investment reached JD 36 million in 2023, with 84 percent of this amount allocated to infrastructure and the purchase of network equipment to support new services, including high-speed fiber optic services.
Data and voice service providers invested around JD eight million, while interconnection service providers invested JD 23 million.
