Swedish pop group ABBA requested that former US President Donald Trump stop using their music and videos at his campaign rallies, according to a statement released by the band's record label on Thursday.

The request follows reports that ABBA's hits, including "The Winner Takes It All," "Money, Money, Money," and "Dancing Queen," were played at a rally held by Trump and his running mate JD Vance on July 27 in Minnesota, accompanied by videos.

Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet reported that ABBA's music was featured prominently during the event, leading to the band's action.

Universal Music, ABBA's record label, confirmed that no permission or license had been granted for the use of the band's music at Trump events.

The label stated that they requested the immediate removal of the unauthorized content.

Several artists and their representatives, including the late Tom Petty, Adele, and R.E.M., previously objected to their music being played at Trump events.

In April, the label for the late Irish singer and activist Sinéad O'Connor also demanded that the Trump campaign cease using her music.

Similarly, Canadian singer Celine Dion and her label made a similar complaint earlier this month, describing the use of her performance as "unauthorized."
