Former Twitter Chairman sues Elon Musk
Omid Kordestani, the former Chairman of the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), has filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging that billionaire Elon Musk refused to pay over USD 20 million in owed stock, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Kordestani served as Executive Chairman from 2015 to 2020 and continued as a board member for two more years until Musk's acquisition of the platform for USD 44 billion. In his complaint, Kordestani claims that his compensation included stock, which he alleges Musk is now refusing to pay.
Kordestani's lawyers argue that the company, which Musk renamed X, is benefiting from Kordestani's seven years of work at Twitter without fairly compensating him.
The lawsuit, filed in the San Francisco Superior Court, adds to a growing list of legal challenges that former Twitter leaders have brought against Musk since he took over the company.
In March, four former executives also sued Musk, claiming he withheld over USD 128 million in severance payments following their termination from the company.
X has not responded to inquiries regarding the lawsuit.
Before his tenure at Twitter, Kordestani, an Iranian-American, held significant roles at Alphabet's Google, overseeing revenue, customer operations, marketing, and partnerships since joining the company in 1999. He was one of the key figures in the company's growth.
