Emergency alert test conducted in Jordan amid regional tensions, telecom source confirms

A source from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) revealed the reasons behind the emergency message received by some smart devices in Jordan on Wednesday.

In a statement to Roya, the source explained that one of the telecom companies in Jordan is conducting a test by sending warning messages to citizens' phones.

This test aims to eventually implement it as a method of alerting in case of disasters, the source added.

He also noted that the system allows the responsible authorities to send messages to individuals located within the area affected by the event or disaster.

Earlier Wednesday, citizens shared images of these warning messages on social media platforms, questioning their source and purpose.

Some have speculated that these messages might be linked to the ongoing regional tensions and the possibility of Iran and Hezbollah launching a missile attack on Israeli Occupation.
