Shamali inaugurates Jordan’s first gold refinery

Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yousef Al Shamali, inaugurated Jordan's first gold refinery at the factory of the International Company, one of the subsidiaries of the Imseeh Jewelry Group.

Al Shamali stated that the Jordanian industry is continuously evolving and is highly responsive to the development plans implemented by the government, following the visions and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II. This enables our national industry to enhance its competitiveness, increase its ability to face various challenges, and penetrate global markets, reflecting on job creation, reducing unemployment, and increasing export value.

He added that the government places great importance on the industrial sector and directs many programs and policies to support it, stemming from its significant contribution to GDP, employment, activation of various sectors, increasing exports, meeting local market needs for various goods, and safeguarding local investments.

He mentioned that the Economic Modernization Vision and its executive program include clear targets to support national industry and respond to its requirements in a way that reflects on the overall economic performance.

Al Shamali emphasized the commitment to a real and effective partnership between the public and private sectors to maximize returns on economic sectors and the national economy in general and to consult on relevant issues.

He pointed out that the gold and jewelry industry in Jordan has seen significant development in recent years and has achieved record highs in exports.

Jordan's gold exports amounted to $1,158.2 million in 2023, compared to $659.9 million in 2022, achieving a growth rate of 75.5%.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Osama Imseeh, confirmed that the establishment of this refinery reflects the group's commitment to excellence and its vision for the future of luxury jewelry.

The modern refinery is equipped with the best technologies to refine gold from 14, 18, and 21 karat to pure 999.9 karat gold, and to transform raw materials into jewelry pieces. These pieces are exported to 54 countries around the world.

The inauguration was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Dana Al-Zoubi, the Director General of the Standards and Metrology Organization, Engineer Abeer Al-Zuhair, and the President of the General Syndicate of Owners of Jewelry and Jewelry Stores, Rebhi Allan.
