Mikati calls Israeli Occupation “killing machine”
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati strongly condemned the Israeli Occupation attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Haret Hreik, which resulted in numerous casualties among Lebanese civilians.
The assault, which occurred on Tuesday evening, targeted a residential area near one of Lebanon's major hospitals.
Mikati criticized the Israeli Occupation, noting that the “occupation's killing machine was not satisfied” and had escalated their attacks beyond southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, reaching deep into the heart of Beirut and dangerously close to one of Lebanon's largest hospitals.
"This criminal act that occurred tonight is part of a series of aggressive operations that harm civilians in clear and explicit violation of international law and humanitarian law,” Mikati stated. “We place this matter before the international community, which must assume its responsibilities."
Mikati also affirmed Lebanon’s right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and deter further aggression.
He announced that the Lebanese Cabinet will convene on Wednesday to discuss the response and necessary actions following the attack.
