“Trump’s return could resurrect Deal of the Century,” warns former FM

Former Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher declared that US President Joe Biden's recent withdrawal from the US presidential race was a necessary move. 

Muasher argued that Biden's chances of winning were almost nonexistent, making his departure from the race "inevitable", he told Roya’s Nabd Al-Balad on Tuesday.

Muasher highlighted that the current US electoral landscape is heavily reliant on six key states, where Biden had previously secured victory by a narrow margin. 

Given the current dynamics, he expressed skepticism about Kamala Harris's prospects, noting that Trump remains ahead in the polls and that the gap between them is narrowing. 

He cautioned that it is too early to make definitive judgments about Harris's chances.

The former minister identified three critical factors that could potentially benefit Harris: support from African-American voters, women, and youth. 

Despite this, Muasher stated that the Democratic Party's likelihood of retaining the presidency has improved following Biden's withdrawal, though the chances still remain slim.

Muasher also addressed the possibility of a Trump return to the White House, noting that such a scenario is causing significant global concern, including anxiety in Europe and among economic stakeholders. 

He warned that Trump’s potential return could signal a revival of the "Deal of the Century," which undermines the two-state solution and could adversely affect Jordan.
