Russia's first response to Biden's withdrawal from presidential race

The Kremlin announced on Monday that the withdrawal of US President Joe Biden from the presidential election was not a big surprise. 

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked that Vice President Kamala Harris has so far not contributed to US-Russia relations.

Peskov stated, "We are closely monitoring developments in the United States, as well as in all major countries of the world. The fluctuations of US politics are not a priority for Russia, which is focused on achieving its objectives in Ukraine." 

He described the future of US-Russia relations as crucial for Russia, noting that they are currently "experiencing the worst period in history." 

Peskov added, "The Kremlin does not expect any goodwill from the outgoing US administration towards Russia."
