Brigadier General Firas Al-Rashid, the Director of the Traffic Department, said that law-compliant drivers in Jordan benefit positively from enhanced traffic monitoring, whether automated or human – adding that a non-compliant driver's issue lies with the traffic law, not the officer enforcing it.

In a press statement, the Al-Rashing noted that law-compliant drivers benefit positively from enhanced traffic monitoring, whether automated or human.

He explained that an increase in automated monitoring of violations indicates that these offenses are committed by individuals and that the methods of automated detection have been developed.

The amended Traffic Law of 2023 outlines a series of procedures and penalties for those committing serious violations in Jordan.

The law imposes stricter penalties for violations that endanger lives, including harsher prison sentences and fines for offenses such as running red lights, driving against traffic, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a valid license or expired vehicle registration, operating a public transport vehicle without the appropriate license, reckless driving, and using a phone while driving.

Under the Traffic Law, penalties for driving in a way that obstructs traffic, allowing passengers to hang out of moving vehicles, or failing to stay in the right lane include a fine ranging from JOD 50 to 100.

Additionally, the vehicle will be impounded for a period of no less than 24 hours and no more than 30 days.
