Following President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, called for Biden's immediate resignation, questioning his fitness to serve as President due to health concerns.
In a post on X, Johnson criticized the Democratic Party's handling of Biden's withdrawal, stating, "At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened. The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election."

Johnson highlighted the disenfranchisement of over 14 million Americans who had supported Biden in the primaries, arguing that the Democratic Party, which touts itself as the "party of democracy," has shown otherwise through its actions.
"The party’s prospects are no better now with Vice President Kamala Harris, who co-owns the disastrous policy failures of the Biden Administration," Johnson continued.
He criticized Harris for her role as the "border czar" and her involvement in what he described as "the destruction of American sovereignty, security, and prosperity." He also accused her of being part of a significant political coverup, asserting that she has long been aware of Biden's incapacity to serve.
Johnson assured, "Regardless of the chaos in the current White House, our adversaries around the globe should be reminded that the US Congress, the US military, and the American people are fully prepared and committed to defend our interests both at home and abroad."
Concluding his statement, Johnson was unequivocal in his demand: "If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He must resign the office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough."
