Political analyst and expert, Daifallah Al-Daboubi, weighed in on the latest developments in negotiations between the Israeli Occupation and Hamas.

In an exclusive interview with Roya News, Al-Daboubi highlighted the significant momentum following US President Joe Biden's introduction of an American plan aimed at finalizing a deal between Hamas and Tel Aviv.

Pressure mounted to expedite the process, according to Al-Daboubi, with optimistic projections suggesting a potential conclusion within the next two weeks. The initial phase is anticipated to span 42 days, marking a critical juncture in the ongoing discussions.

From the outset, Hamas advocated for the complete withdrawal of “Israeli” forces from Gaza. In contrast, the Israeli Occupation insisted on the disarmament and removal of Hamas from the region, setting the stage for complex negotiations.

Al-Daboubi underscored a pivotal challenge set for day 16 of the negotiations, focusing on the terms of a ceasefire.

He noted a fundamental discrepancy: Article 8 of the proposed agreement calls for a temporary ceasefire, while Hamas staunchly pushes for a sustainable and lasting peace arrangement.

The negotiations are structured into three distinct phases, each spanning 42 days. Al-Daboubi emphasized that day 16 stands out as the crucial moment when the trajectory of the negotiations will likely be determined.

The first phase, as outlined by Al-Daboubi, aims to secure the release of 40 “Israeli” captives from Gaza and several Palestinian prisoners in exchange for an interim ceasefire arrangement.

He explained that negotiations in Doha concluded, prompting the transition to Cairo, where discussions will pivot to Egyptian concerns regarding the Philadelphi Corridor.

Egypt stipulated the construction of a 10-meter-deep barrier, with funding expected from the US.

Al-Daboubi highlighted ongoing understandings between the Israeli Occupation and Egypt regarding the Philadelphi Corridor, emphasizing that the relocation from Doha to Cairo signifies a strategic maneuver benefiting all parties engaged in the negotiations.

Encouragingly, Al-Daboubi noted unanimous support within “Israeli” circles, including the military, opposition groups, and settler communities, pressing “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to finalize the agreement.

Al-Daboubi pointed out renewed tensions in Gaza's cities since the commencement of the new negotiations. Despite these challenges, he affirmed that Hamas remains resilient and determined in its stance.

Finally, Al-Daboubi outlined the occupation's strategy of escalating hostilities, attempting to maximize pressure and inflict losses, underscoring the urgency of resolving negotiations near a pivotal stage.
