55 contraflow driving, 185 red light violations in Jordan past 48 hours
The Traffic Department of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) handled accidents resulting in four deaths, 20 reckless driving violations, 55 wrong-way driving cases, and 185 red light violations over the past 48 hours
PSD spokesperson Colonel Amer Sartawi stated that authorities have impounded freight vehicles lacking safety standards, one of which was driven by an unauthorized driver. The primary violations causing severe accidents include using phones while driving, lane changing, and not taking necessary precautions.
The department dealt with accidents in the past two days that resulted in four deaths. Major violations include using phones while driving, lane changing, and not taking necessary precautions.
An operations officer highlighted a specific incident where improperly secured cargo caused steel bars to fall on Highway 100 near the Development Corridor station towards Amman. The driver, holding an inappropriate license, was detained, and the appropriate legal action was taken.
PSD officials urged drivers to regularly maintain their vehicles, especially in high temperatures, and to adhere to safety standards to prevent severe accidents. They emphasized the importance of following traffic rules, adhering to speed limits, and avoiding distractions, as most accidents are due to human errors that can be prevented.
