US President Joe Biden’s family encouraged him to remain in the run for the 2024 presidential elections amidst widespread calls for him to step down following his poor performance in Thursday’s presidential debate.

During a family gathering at Camp David on Sunday, First Lady Jill Biden, son Hunter Biden, and their grandchildren were reportedly unanimous in their encouragement for Biden to persist in his bid for reelection, CNN reported.

Sources indicated that while there was frustration over Biden's debate preparation team, the family deliberated over the possibility of personnel changes without any immediate decisions being made.

Key advisers within Biden's circle, including senior figures like Anita Dunn and Bob Bauer, have come under increasing scrutiny following the debate. Even influential Democratic donor John Morgan publicly criticized Dunn and Bauer, calling for their immediate removal from Biden's team.

Biden, however, appeared reluctant to entertain major staff changes following the gathering.

Furthermore, while calls for Biden to consider stepping down have gained traction in the aftermath of the debate, advisers indicated that the focus within the Biden camp remains on gathering data and assessing support levels across key battleground states.

Sources close to the President suggested that any anticipated decline in polling numbers could be preemptively attributed to media scrutiny rather than Biden's debate performance.
