Legal expert Ashraf Al-Ra'i stated that hate speech is one of the most dangerous types of rhetoric that can spread in societies. Speaking to Roya on Thursday, Al-Ra'i highlighted that many people mistakenly believe hate speech is part of their right to express opinions and ideas.

Al-Ra'i emphasized that the Jordanian constitution, specifically Article 15, governs the expression of opinions, affirming the right of every Jordanian to free expression while subjecting it to the constitution and legal provisions.

He noted an increase in hate speech following the Israeli Occupation's aggression on Gaza, indicating hidden forces attempting to destabilize society. Al-Ra'i explained that hate speech is regulated not only by the cybercrime law but also by criminal laws.

Al-Ra'i pointed out the widespread ignorance and lack of understanding of the cybercrime law's provisions, stressing that laws must be applied independently of societal interpretations. Misunderstanding legal texts can cause significant harm and conflict within the community.

He underlined that hate speech not only harms society but can also impede the progress of investigations in certain cases.
