A man in his forties stabbed his brother with a dagger, inflicting serious injuries, due to previous disputes between the siblings.

The Major Felonies Court decided to place the accused at the National Center for Mental Health after confirming his diagnosis of schizophrenia.

In a public session, the court declared the man not responsible for the charge of attempted premeditated murder under Articles 326 and 70 of the Penal Code, due to his schizophrenia.

The court found that the accused suffers from schizophrenia and had previous disputes with his brother, the complainant.

The accused had previously set fire to the complainant’s house in 2020 and repeated the act in 2021, resulting in a decision against him by the Zarqa Criminal Court.

According to the court's decision, reviewed by "Roya," the accused continued to threaten his brother.

In March 2023, while the complainant was in his barbershop, he was surprised by his brother, who stabbed him seven times with a dagger. The complainant was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that his injuries were serious.
