The King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center in the Dead Sea area commenced the “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” conference on Tuesday. The event was co-organized by Jordan, Egypt, and the UN.

The conference aims to enhance the international community's response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip. It seeks to identify effective mechanisms and steps for response, operational and logistical needs, and a commitment to a coordinated approach to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The ongoing war in Gaza has caused a humanitarian catastrophe for more than 2.3 million Palestinians, leading to widespread famine, psychological suffering, and massive destruction. Access to food, water, shelter, and medicine has become almost nonexistent.

King Abdullah II will deliver Jordan’s address during the main session of the conference.

The guest list includes Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, UN Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator Martin Griffiths, as well as leaders of states, heads of governments, and leaders of international humanitarian and relief organizations.

According to the conference program, the morning session will include "three working groups" focusing on providing humanitarian aid to Gaza in line with the needs, overcoming challenges in delivering aid and protecting civilians, and setting early recovery priorities.

In the evening session, King Abdullah II will deliver Jordan’s address, followed by Al-Sisi, Guterres, and Abbas.

The conference will also discuss early recovery preparations and seek commitments for a collective and coordinated response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

This high-level meeting aims to reach a consensus on practical measures to meet immediate needs on the ground. The conference will conclude with a joint press conference featuring the Foreign Ministers of Jordan and Egypt.
