Authorities warn citizens

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) cautioned citizens Sunday on the rising temperatures in Jordan, emphasizing the importance of adhering to guidelines and precautions to avoid heat strokes, cases of heat stress, and fires.

The PSD stressed the necessity of not leaving children alone inside vehicles, and refraining from leaving flammable materials inside vehicles, such as sanitizers, gas canisters, lighters, and perfumes.

The Directorate highlighted the importance of wearing protective headgear, hats, and taking breaks, especially for any individuals whose work requires prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

It urged monitoring children and not allowing them to play under the sun for extended periods. Additionally, it advised drinking appropriate amounts of fluids, especially water, and wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.

The Directorate reiterated the importance of wearing protective headgear, hats, and taking breaks, especially for individuals whose work requires prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Furthermore, it advised against overloading electrical circuits by running air conditioners, fans, and other appliances on a single electrical source, monitoring them, safely disposing of cigarette butts, and staying away from dense vegetation areas that serve as habitats for reptiles such as scorpions and snakes.

The Directorate emphasized not hesitating to call the unified emergency hotline 911 if needed.
