Jordan condemns “Israeli” Knesset attempts to Label UNRWA as terrorist organization

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the attempts by the Israeli Knesset to classify the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as a terrorist organization and to target its activities by seeking to strip it of its immunities and criminalize its actions.

The ministry's spokesperson, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Al-Qudah, stated that “Israel's” ongoing attempts to undermine and delegitimize UNRWA, which affirm the rights of Palestinian refugees to return and compensation under international law, are illegitimate, illegal, and null, representing a violation of international law and Israel's obligations as the occupying power.

He emphasized the urgent need for the international community to take immediate action to provide protection for the Palestinian people and United Nations organizations and humanitarian entities seeking to alleviate the ongoing Israeli occupation's attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.

Al-Qudah reiterated the mandate granted to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in accordance with its international mandate and the necessity for the international community to continue supporting the agency and ensuring its ongoing responsibility in providing vital services to Palestinian refugees.
