The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the military operations carried out by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in the Palestinian city of Rafah, which resulted in their control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry renewed its call for "Israel" to exercise maximum restraint and to avoid policies that could lead to an escalation of the situation in the region.

The IOF began a surprise operation through division 162, claiming to neutralize targets associated with the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, east of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Avichay Adraee, a spokesperson for the IOF, said that this operation was based on precise intelligence information from the General Security Service and the Military Intelligence Directorate.

Adraee claimed that forces from the 401 Brigade's combat group gained operational control over the Gaza side of the Rafah crossing.

Israeli Occupation claimed that the operation was based on information indicating that the Resistance was using the crossing.
