Several countries have declared Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as the commencement of Eid al-Fitr after confirming the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.

Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines have all announced Wednesday as the start of Eid al-Fitr.

The timing of Eid al-Fitr varies depending on the fasting schedules of each country. Countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Somalia, Djibouti, and others observed the Shawwal crescent on Monday, April 8.

Meanwhile, countries that began fasting on March 12, including Jordan, Libya, Australia, Malaysia, Brunei, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, and Morocco, are set to witness the Shawwal crescent on Tuesday, April 9.

The International Astronomy Center had earlier predicted that Eid al-Fitr would fall on Wednesday, April 10, in most countries, based on the crescent sighting.

Additionally, the International Astronomy Center shared an image of the Shawwal crescent taken from the Jordanian sky on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, revealing that the moon's distance from the sun was 6.9 degrees.
