The Director of the Unified Acceptance Coordination Unit and spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohannad Al-Khatib, confirmed Wednesday the suspension of the new university grants and loans system.

Al-Khatib added that the old system for this year will be reinstated, noting that the window for appeals will be open to students for 24 hours, for a period ranging between seven and eight days.

He mentioned that more than 88,000 male and female students applied to the University Student Support Fund, indicating that the ministry will refrain from announcing the results before the end of March or the beginning of April next year.

He also pointed out that more than 527,000 male and female students have benefited from the Student Support Fund in universities, with a total cost exceeding JD 650 million since 2004.

The President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Nathir Obeidat, announced a decision to postpone the payment of university fees for students applying for grants and loans for the second semester of the academic year 2023/2024 until the results of those grants and loans are announced.
