The Higher Education Council, in its session chaired by the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, decided to admit 17,665 male and female students in the undergraduate level.

The Council approved the admission of 5,871 male and female students in the intermediate diploma stage in the regular program at public universities and colleges through the Unified Admission Coordination Unit, according to a statement received by Roya.

He pointed out that the admission comes at the beginning of the second semester of the academic year 2023-2024.

The ministry determined these numbers based on several criteria, including strict adherence to the capacity of each major. Additionally, consideration was given to both the number assigned by the Board of Trustees of each university and the number assigned by the Higher Education Institutions Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority, which took into account the accreditation criteria for each specialization.

Lastly, recent decisions of the Higher Education Council were considered, which stipulated a reduction of the allocated numbers for admission in stagnant and saturated majors by 50 percent in response to the results of the study of the supply and demand situation for specializations in the civil service for the year 2023-2024.
