One-third of Americans believe “Israel” is committing genocide, half says it went “too far”

More than one-third of Americans believe the Israeli Occupation is committing genocide in the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip - a recent Economist/YouGov poll has found.

The poll’s results reveal that 35 percent believe that “Israel” is committing genocide, 36 percent dont, and 29 percent are undecided.

When surveying younger Americans aged 18 to 29, 49 percent believe “Israel” with 24 percent disagreeing and 27 are “uncertain.”

The poll was conducted at the time South Africa filed a lawsuit against the Israeli Occupation at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in which it rallied global support for Gaza and put the genocide undertaken against Palestinian in Gaza under the spotlight.

Another poll conducted in January by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also revealed that exactly half of US adults say the “Israeli” aggression against Gaza has “gone too far,” up from 40 percent in November.

The percentage rises to 63 percent in Democrats, and drops to 33 percent among Republicans - up from 18 percent in an earlier poll in November.

The rising discontent among American and particularly democrats spells worrying news for the Joe Biden’s administration during this election year - and is believed to play a significant role in the US’s push for a cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip - in stark opposition to the Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
