Houthis fire anti-ship cruise missiles towards Red Sea, CENTCOM says
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on Wednesday that the Yemen’s Houthis fired one anti-ship cruise missile from the Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen towards the Red Sea.
CENTCOM added that the missile was intercepted by USS Gravely (DDG 107), and there were no injuries or damage reported - per the statement.
Yemen’s Houthis have been carrying out attacks on ships associated with Israeli occupation in the Red Sea in response to the Israeli Occupation aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Subsequently, the US and the UK have conducted several strikes against Houthi sites in response to the targeting of vessels.
The attack prompted several shipping companies to take longer routes and more costly maritime routes - impacting the global economy.
