King inaugurates new Jordanian Armed Forces headquarters
His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, inaugurated the new headquarters of the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, on Tuesday, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah.
Upon arriving at the command's site in the Yajouz area, 21 cannon shots were fired in salute to His Majesty, and the royal anthem was played, while His Majesty was greeted by a group of honor guards.
During his tour of the headquarters facilities, His Majesty the King praised the efforts and high professionalism in executing the project, highlighting its modernity and advancement. He was accompanied by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Hnaity.
His Majesty listened to a briefing from the director of the Housing and Military Works Foundation about the headquarters, which is situated on an area of 300,000 square meters and was constructed according to the latest engineering standards.
The director delineated the organizational plan for the directorates of the General Command included in the headquarters, which features a pedestrian square with a total area of 10,000 square meters, noting the supportive role of the United Arab Emirates in the project.
His Majesty wrote a message in the distinguished visitors' book expressing his pride and admiration for the members of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, and his appreciation for their sacrifices and heroism in defense of the homeland.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of State for Defense Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, and the UAE Ambassador to Oman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, along with senior officers of the armed forces.
