The United Kingdom and the United States have imposed “coordinated sanctions” on Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Monday to disrupt its financial networks, a statement by the UK government said.

Five key figures and “an entity” involved in the leadership and the financial network of the two groups are subject to the new sanctions, and will “cut off the flow of funding that supports these terrorist groups, including from Iran,” the statement added.

This is the third round of sanctions by the UK and the US imposed against Hamas and the PIJ since Oct. 7, 2023.

Disrupting the financial networks of these groups helps achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron has claimed.
