Jordanian Armed Forces thwart narcotics smuggling attempt from Syria
The Eastern Military District successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics from Syrian territory into Jordan on Sunday.
According to an official military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, border guard forces, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Department and military security services, detected a group of smugglers attempting to illegally cross the border.
Swift reaction patrols were deployed, and direct engagement led to injuries and the escape of some into Syrian territory.
The seized items included 537,000 Captagon pills, 888 palms of hashish, and ammunition, all of which were handed over to the relevant authorities.
The Jordanian Armed Forces emphasized their commitment to dealing forcefully with any threats to border security and attempts to undermine national stability.
