The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has announced that it is granting residents of the Abdoun area in the capital permits for vehicle entry, according to a source within the municipality.

The source at the municipality told Roya that vehicle entry permits for Abdoun residents are being issued in light of road closures imposed on some routes leading to the area, specifically from Zain Square and Taj Mall.

The source indicated that permits are granted to residents of the area after confirming lease agreements or ownership deeds.

Notably, the Abdoun area witnesses heavy traffic congestion throughout the week, especially on Thursdays and Fridays.

The traffic department regularly closes roads in Abdoun to reduce significant congestion.

The area also experiences closures by security forces for roads leading to the US Embassy in Abdoun, coinciding with the protests condemning the American stance supporting the Israeli Occupation in the aggression on Gaza and the continued targeting of children and women.

Activists in Jordan continually call for marches towards the US Embassy, which is met with road closures by security forces leading to the embassy.

The last protest saw the closure expanding to reach the Taj Mall roundabout.
