Traders in the Abdoun area in Amman called for an end to security closures on the roads leading to their shops due to the losses they have incurred.

According to the traders, there have been significant closures recently, making it difficult for employees to reach their workplaces and causing a decline in purchasing activity.

They emphasized that Abdoun is one of the most important tourist areas with large shops and restaurants, and the closures have resulted in significant financial losses for them.

An employee mentioned in an interview with Roya that due to the closures, it has become challenging to access work in the Abdoun area.

He confirmed that market activity has significantly declined, causing harm to their businesses and jeopardizing their jobs.

Notably, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) stated that it is granting residents of the Abdoun area permits for vehicle access, according to an internal source.

The source stated that vehicle access permits for Abdoun residents are granted in light of the closures imposed on some roads leading to their neighborhoods, specifically between the Zain roundabout and Taj Mall roundabout.

The permits are given to residents after confirming their lease or ownership status.

Abdoun witnesses heavy traffic congestion throughout the week, especially on Thursdays and Fridays. The traffic department regularly closes off some roads in Abdoun to reduce significant congestion.

The area also experiences closures by local security forces on roads leading to the US Embassy in Abdoun. This coincides with the protests condemning the American stance supporting the Israeli Occupation in the aggression on Gaza and the continued targeting of children and women.

Activists in Jordan consistently call for marches toward the US Embassy, prompting security forces to close roads leading to the embassy.
