Sister of prisoner Israa Jaabis stated Saturday that Israeli Occupation authorities have been detaining Israa since Saturday afternoon, in addition to preventing the families of released prisoners from all forms of celebrations or receiving any visitors at their homes.

"We are not allowed to offer sweets or welcome people for congratulations."

"We are dealing with constant anxiety, and we don't know what will happen with Israa, whether she will be released today or not. Our concern today is how to give the proper medical treatment for Israa," she added.

Jaabis’ brother was also summoned by the Israeli Occupation, as was the case Friday with the families of six released prisoners in Jerusalem who experienced the same.

The names of the prisoners who received notices of their release according to the duration of their sentences are as follows: Israa Jaabis - 11 years, Nourhan Awad - 10 years, Shorouq Dwayyat - 16 years, Nafoud Hamadeh - 12 years, Aisha Afghani - 15 years, Fadwa Hamada - 10 years.

On October 11, 2015, Israa was on her way from the city of Jericho to the city of Jerusalem as she was moving some of her household items to her new place of residence. Among the items were an empty gas cylinder and a television set.

When Israa arrived near the Za'ayyim checkpoint about 1500 meters away, the car broke down near the Ma'ale Adumim settlement. Jaabis’s car malfunctioned causing an electrical surge and an airbag explosion. A fire then broke out inside the car prompting her to exit the vehicle and request assistance from nearby Israeli Occupation police officers.

However, the police officers did not help Jaabis nor provide her with first aid instead calling for backup and arresting her.
