UNICEF Executive Director expresses dismay over Baptist Hospital Massacre in Gaza

UNICEF Executive Director, Catherine Russell, expressed her dismay following the targeting of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza.

Russell further stated that while details continue to emerge and the body count rises, the scenes on the ground are heart-wrenching.

The organization neither condemns nor expresses shock at the actions of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), she said.

She emphasized that the ongoing war has had a deadly impact on children.

Hundreds of children have tragically lost their lives in the span of 11 days, with thousands more injured and over 300,000 children displaced from their homes.

She pointed out that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, such as hospitals, are unacceptable and must cease immediately.

She reiterated UNICEF's urgent call for an immediate halt to hostile actions, ensuring the protection of children from harm, and facilitating safe and swift access to humanitarian aid for those in need.
