Gaza death toll rises to 2,228
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has released grim statistics about the ongoing aggression on the territory, which has entered its eighth day.
As the situation deteriorates, the number of martyrs has risen to 2,228, with the wounded reaching 8,744. The majority of the casualties are women and children.
The Palestinian Health Ministry raised concerns about the deliberate targeting of medical personnel and ambulances by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), resulting in the deaths of 15 medical workers and injuries to 27 others. The targeting of ambulances has further strained the region's already weakened emergency response capabilities.
Hospitals and health facilities have also been under attack, jeopardizing the lives of the sick and wounded. The assault has led to damage to 15 health facilities, rendering many of them inoperative. In particular, the Al-Durrah Children’s Hospital in eastern Gaza had to be evacuated and its patients and staff transferred to Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital after it was targeted with phosphorus bombs. This marks the second hospital to become inoperative following Beit Hanoun Hospital, in addition to the Jordanian Field Hospital that ceased operations on Saturday afternoon.
Operation Aqsa Typhoon, launched by the Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, on October 7 in response to Israeli Occupation violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, continues into its eighth day.
IOF maintain their aerial assaults and raids on various areas in the Gaza Strip, resulting in numerous casualties, extensive damage to buildings, residential towers, institutions, and infrastructure.
As the situation in Gaza worsens, there is an urgent need for international intervention to address the humanitarian crisis and end the violence.
