Jordan urges end to escalation in Gaza
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed Saturday the urgent need to halt the dangerous escalation in Gaza. It warned of the serious repercussions of this escalation, which threatens to further destabilize the situation, particularly in light of the ongoing Israeli Occupation assaults and violations against the Palestinian people, their holy sites, and the deprivation of their rights in cities and areas of the West Bank.
The Ministry, in a statement, cautioned about the implications of this escalation on all efforts towards achieving a comprehensive ceasefire. It emphasized the necessity of protecting civilians and respecting international humanitarian law.
The Ministry stated that the escalation of violence in all its forms and the continuation of it will negatively impact everyone. It emphasized finding a political horizon for peace, based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy decisions, ending the occupation, and establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967, borders.
Notably, the Ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, stated that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi is conducting intensive communications with regional and international counterparts to explore urgent and effective international action to halt the escalation in all its forms and protect the region from the consequences of a new cycle of violence.
