Minister of Health Firas Al-Hawari said the national vaccination program has demonstrated its effectiveness in protecting a significant number of individuals from diseases.

This announcement came during a meeting of the Health, Environment, and Population Committee in the Upper House Council, which focused on the (MR) vaccines for measles and rubella.

Hawari emphasized that the collaboration in the success of the campaign is a patriotic duty for both schools and parents to protect everyone from measles.

He further explained that the spread of measles was a consequence of the lockdowns accompanying the peak of the COVID-19 virus, in addition to the rise in infections worldwide due to migration and some individuals not completing their vaccination programs.

This led to the emergence of measles and other infectious diseases, he explained.

The goal of the national campaign, currently being implemented, is to control the spread of these infections.

Hawari emphasized transparency in implementing the adopted measures, assuring that the ministry will not compromise the citizens' health and that the vaccine is not new, as it was used in the 2013 campaign and has proven to be safe.

The committee recommended the necessity of disclosing all details and results of vaccine tests for discussion among citizens, ensuring everyone's right to access detailed scientific information from accredited national institutions on this matter.
