The National Center for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases has called for receiving the measles and rubella (MR) vaccine in Jordan.

In a statement released Friday, the center emphasized the importance of the national vaccination campaign, endorsing the efforts of the Ministry of Health (MoH), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The center highlighted that the MR vaccine in Jordan is safe and effective in saving children's lives.

Measles is a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease that can be easily prevented through vaccination.

The center also expressed support for the MoH's efforts in the national vaccination campaign.

The second phase of the campaign is set to begin in mid-October and will target all students in government and private schools, as well as kindergartens, nurseries, shelters, orphanages and events.

Notably, the MR vaccine provides lifelong protection for children, the center noted.

Parents were encouraged to dispel any concerns about the vaccine, increase their confidence in it, and encourage their children to receive it in order to enhance community immunity levels.
